Using an Integrated Marketing Campaign to Re-launch Business.gov

JDG and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) re-launched Business.gov in October 2006, providing a resource for federal compliance information to businesses. As the SBA's marketing communications partner, JDG created an integrated brand campaign that used both traditional and nontraditional marketing strategies and tactics. JDG was recognized with the "2007 Marketer of the Year Award" and the Integrated Marketing Campaign "M Award" from AMA-DC for its use of the latest internet marketing tactics, including web chats, podcasts, blogs and Wikipedia definitions. JDG also organized a launch event, created print and online advertising, conducted media relations and performed partner relations. Radio and print news releases, a white paper, pre-written articles and a press kit were also developed.

New visitors to the site doubled within one month of its launch, with more than 100 million impressions. News of the website appeared in The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC.com, Washington Business Journal, Washington Post and more than 2,000 broadcast and print outlets nationwide. Business and government publications saw the site as a "championing" effort and "a major step toward reducing the regulatory burden on small businesses by creating a searchable website." The Office of Management and Budget (OMB) recognized Business.gov as one of the most successful e-government initiatives, helping the SBA to receive the highest ranking on the federal agency's score card.

JDG Creates Databases Portfolio for American Psychological Association

The American Psychological Association (APA) is a non-profit organization leading the way in publishing for psychology, business, medicine, nursing, social work, law, and education. As part of this role, the organization provides a number of research database services to libraries at institutions of higher learning, corporations and medical organizations.

APA turned to JDG Communications to design a marketing program to advertise their database research tool and proprietary content, with the ultimate goal of increased sales.

APA Databases Portfolio was developed for use as a visually appealing marketing collateral piece that uses colorful images to convey the wide ranging multidisciplinary content they offer. APA uses this comprehensive kit at trade shows, vendor meetings, and sales presentations. It serves as a stand-alone piece that promotes the features and benefits of all APA database products. As a result of the new marketing collateral, the campaign increased sales of the product 14% over the previous year. AMA-DC gave the collateral piece one of its coveted "M Awards."

Using Multimedia to Help Red Cross Recruit Youth Volunteers

Providing a number of domestic disaster support services to communities, the American Red Cross relies on the assistance of volunteers to carry out its mission. The American Red Cross turned to JDG to develop an interactive way to help them recruit youth volunteers and encourage them to continue lifelong involvement with the organization.

JDG created the "Building Through Youth Involvement" flash presentation to educate local American Red Cross units on the benefits of youth and young adult volunteers and how a local unit can get these young people involved. The campaign featured audio presentations, video clips of chapter leaders and other volunteers, and downloadable resources.
